‘Spin yourself fit at pole dancing class’

Women are being offered the opportunity to spin their way to fitness the fun way, with a new pole dancing class.

The classes will run for six weeks at the Northgate Arena Leisure Centre, Victoria Road, from March 22nd, but a free Mother and Daughter taster session will be held from noon – 2pm on Mothering Sunday.

Instructor Amy Butterworth 28, who previously worked as a financier at Chester Business Park, has been pole dancing for three years and already runs classes in Buckley and Queensferry under the name Candy & Chrome.

Amy plans to transform women’s fitness and confidence with her classes, after giving up her nne to five job to run them.

After attending a pole dancing class with a friend, Amy fell in love with the sport.  “I had such a brilliant time that I went straight home and bought a pole for my living room” she said.

“After continuing to take lessons in my spare time, I decided I’d like to turn it into a full time profession.  Pole dancing is great exercise because it tones and strengthens your whole body, as well as improving cardiovascular fitness, but unlike other types of exercise, it’s great fun too and a real confidence booster!.

Clive Donovan, arena operations manager for Northgate Arena said “At Northgate Arena we don’t believe exercising should be a chore, so we try to offer our customers fun and different ways of keeping fit, and pole dancing fits that criteria perfectly.

Not only is it physically demanding, but it’s also a more light hearted way of keeping fit, and we are expecting the classes to be very popular”.
