Super Smoothies – Anti-Inflammatory

Turmeric – The wonder stuff!

Turmeric has been used by Indians for thousands of years as a featured ingredient to the national dish, but also for its medicinal benefits.

Turmeric boasts amazing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, thanks to its main compound curcumin (curcuminoids). Sadly though, the curcumin content in turmeric isn’t very high, and it’s difficult for the body to absorb.

Combining black pepper with turmeric enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2,000%. Curcumin is also fat soluble, so it’s at its most beneficial with a fatty meal, making this healthy smoothie recipe the perfect base to deliver this kind of natural medicine.

The natural anti-inflammatory benefits of curcumin are so strong, that it is known to match the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs!

Other benefits of turmeric include:

  • Increased brain function
  • Lower risk of brain diseases
  • Lower risk of heart disease
  • Helps to prevent and even treat certain cancers
  • Helps with arthritis
  • A natural antidepressant
  • May have age delaying properties

1 Teaspoon daily is the recommended amount if you want to use it for it’s natural anti-inflammatory properties, but what if you’re not a curry fan?

I’m not a fan of curries much. I’m more of a cocktail kinda gal! So the idea of a healthy, medically beneficial pina colada sounds much better! Everyone seems to have their own version of this smoothie, but here’s mine…

Superhealth – Bone Broth

Why I LOVE This Stuff!

First of all… I am not a nutritional therapist, specialist, chef or dietician. I have no degrees, no qualifications, and no background in this arena and this is not in any way medical advice, and I do advise that you should ALWAYS consult your GP or specialist before making any dietary changes.

However after living with IBS, and having a close family member live with the misery of Diverticular disease (which is f*cking HORRIBLE by the way!) , we did not find any of the above professionals terribly helpful either.

What we DID find helpful, was recipes and changes that were self researched, and through lots of trial and error, we found bone broth in particular to be damn near magical. Sorry Vegans.

Vegans – please look away now, this post is NOT for you!

Candy & Chrome Pole Dance - Recipe - Blackberry Baked Rice

Blackberry Baked Rice

Seasonal Foraging…

Not sure if you know but I’m one of those woodsy nutter types that go foraging n stuff.  What’s even odder is that most people like this and want to get into it too – but don’t know what to do with the 500lbs of blackberries they picked!

So here’s a quick, easy fave of mine.
It’s warm, gooey, sweety, fruity, filling, comforting and cheap to make  😀

Candy & Chrome Pole Dance - Recipe - Blackberry Baked Rice

Chuck in an ovenproof dish:

50g Pudding rice
250 ml Apple juice
1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
2 tbsp Sugar or honey (manuka if you’re posh)
A fistfull of Blackberries

Bake until gooey and gorgeous (bout 30 minutes) at 220°c.

Product Review: PoleGrip by Pole Amor

And up pops another UK Pole grip producer!

In response to the ‘Brexit Effect’ on imported pole products these past two years, we have seen several British companies roll up their sleeves and start to PRODUCE. And this is great, coz nobody stands up with intent and says ‘Riiiiiight….’ quite like the British when faced with a challenge.

Product Review: The Body Shop’s Body Yoghurt

The Quest for Pole Friendly Moisturisers…

As you know by now, dry skin won’t grip the pole, and freshly moisturised skin makes for a slippery death trap.  Moisturising on the day of pole is tricky!  and until recently only two products across the country have been widely tested by pole dancers and found to be agreeable – Vaseline Essential Moisture and The Body Shop’s Body Sorbet.

Selecting pole tracks is an art form …

The Halloween pole dance playlist is by far the absolute pièce de résistance of our virtual jukebox.

It was the first playlist I made, and spans over ten years worth of clever additions.  That’s TEN WHOLE YEARS of me eyeballing every Facebook shout out for recommendations, ten years of internet searches and playlist sharing with some of the top pole stars in the industry from around the world.

As a result, VOILA…. I GIVE YOU the Candy & Chrome Halloween Pole Dance Playlist!

Enjoy!

You can’t just throw in any old tune.  Oh no no no.

So our pole dance playlists are carefully and painstakingly hand picked from the universe, just for you.

This month’s playlist is a combination mostly of pretty, airy and dreamy from the likes of Koven, Odesza, and Zed’s dead. Moving through with some feminine badassery from Ruelle, T-Swift and Beyonce, with a peppering of ethnic beats from Asadi.

But of course, kickass gravel rock carries us through to the end – making sure we use every last once of energy, courtesy of Chevelle, Dorothy and CleoPatrick.

Let’s Get Some!

You can’t just throw in any old tune.  Oh no no no.

So our pole dance playlists are carefully and painstakingly hand picked from the universe, just for you.

This month’s playlist includes some remixy goodness from Bassnectar, High Society and Whissell.  Along with  dreamy drum n bass thanks to Drumsound & Baseline Smith, The Glitch Mob and Black Tiger Sex Machine.

Followed with seductive, sultry tracks from The Alpines, Taska Black, Ruelle and Adventure Club.  Plus a few feel good tracks from one of my faves – Illenium.

But the track that I am most proud to add is the cultural fusion of Punjabi Death Metal from Bloodywood – ‘AriAriAri’ …… it’ll confuse the hell out of you but it’s absolutely amazing and you have to hear it for yourself!

Enjoy!

I Am New – What Do I Do?

We get it.   You’re new, and you haven’t got a clue.

You don’t know what to wear, what to bring, where to park, how to act, or what to say – and that’s O.K.

The good new is:  All you’ve really got to do is turn up and get stuck in.  Honestly that’s it.  But just in case you have those ‘New Girl Niggles’ – here’s a very brief little list of the top things we get asked about by total newbs all the time, and our responses.
